你找一本靠谱字典可以查出来the same是名词
不一定非要加那个city
比如 do the same (thing)
ask the same (question)

1 no longer 不再是。。。其实意思和not 差不多。。。你就先把 no longer 看成not吧。。。。
2 然后这里必须用what 因为what有个特殊的用法就是what= the thing that, 比如 i agree with what he said=i agree with （the thing that ）he said.
所以这个句子其实就可以看成everyone can recognize that it is not（ the thing that） it used to be.... 每个人都能意识上海不是它以前的那个样子了。。。
